Hot ‘on-page’ Google ranking factors

Filed Under (Keywords, On Page Factors, SEO) by Alex Kerr on 02-11-2010

Google’s algorithm uses lots of ‘on-page’ factors to determine how the site ranks for any given keyword phrase. I have compiled a list of some of the hottest ones which you should consider implementing if you want your site to have a chance of being listed towards the top of the search results for a given keyword.

  1. Keyword in the URL
  2. Keyword in the domain name – some say this doesn’t have too much of an impact but I disagree
  3. Keyword in the title tag
  4. Keyword in the description meta tag
  5. Keyword in the keyword meta tag
  6. Keyword in the H1, H2, H3 tags
  7. Keyword density in the body text
